The West Mountain Regional Health Alliance is a coalition of health care leaders, providers and agencies working to improve health in Pitkin, Garfield and Eagle Counties. Membership includes representatives of health care organizations, hospitals, providers, human services departments, public health, school systems, safety net behavioral and physical health clinics, city councils and other community-based groups.
Vision: Low-income residents of the West Mountain region have equal access to the exceptional, comprehensive, cost-effective health care services they need for optimal health.
Mission: Build a collaborative network to achieve optimal health for all people who live in the West Mountain region.
The WMRHA was formed in 2010 to address the issue of prenatal care for low income women in the Roaring Fork Valley. The group continued meeting to prepare for implementation of the ACA. In the past three years, the Alliance focused on educating members on several issues, including the health information exchange, Medicaid expansion, the patient-centered medical homes and medical neighborhoods.
WMRHA is working to increase the knowledge and skills among the partners and community members about health equity issues. It seeks to build consensus, develop strategic and business plans and devise strategies to involve the target population. It is also formalizing its structure and plans to hire an executive director.
